About the Role:
We’re looking for a capable and hands-on Electrical Engineer to take ownership of electrical design and delivery across the group businesses
This is a crucial role that supports all areas of the business, including Solutions, Projects, Technical, and Commissioning teams.
As the dedicated electrical engineer within the group, you’ll be responsible for designing, scoping, and supporting the delivery of LV and HV systems from concept through to commissioning. You’ll need to be confident working independently and comfortable managing a broad range of tasks—from drawings and calculations to client meetings and onsite support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out site surveys and develop electrical designs for both LV and HV systems (where applicable).
- Define system scopes, produce concept designs, and support the Solutions and Estimating teams in specifying equipment and pricing proposals.
- Refine and finalise electrical designs for live projects, including cable sizing, protection settings, and equipment selection.
- Support the Project Delivery team with technical input, procurement assistance, and installation guidance.
- Produce and maintain key documentation including single-line diagrams (SLDs), cable schedules, system descriptions, and control philosophies.
- Prepare and submit G99/G100 applications and ensure designs comply with relevant regulations and standards.
- Create and manage testing and commissioning documentation to ensure safe, compliant installations.
- Attend and contribute to internal and external design meetings, including technical interface discussions with clients, suppliers, and DNOs.
- Act as the primary electrical point of contact across projects, supporting colleagues in Solutions, Technical, Projects, and Commissioning teams as required.
- Provide onsite technical support, particularly during commissioning or for complex electrical systems.
- Where qualified, perform HV switching activities; otherwise, coordinate with approved third parties for HV works.
Skills and Expertise:
- Solid experience in the design and delivery of LV and HV systems.
- Competent in cable sizing, protection coordination, and overall system design.
- Working knowledge of G99/G100 standards and grid interface requirements.
- Able to produce power and control schematics, SLDs, and supporting documentation.
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload across multiple projects.
- Commercially aware, with the ability to balance technical quality with practical site and cost considerations.
- Proficient in AutoCAD or similar for producing and reviewing drawings.
- HV SAP status beneficial but not essential.
