About the Role:
You will be working as part of a team of skilled software developers, building and delivering software across multiple projects. While this role technically intense, the culture is such that winding down over a game of pool and having a laugh is at the heart of everything they do. Like we said above, work-life balance is crucial!
Key Responsibilities:
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following industry best practices.
- Develop and maintain resilient and scalable backend architecture using the Laravel framework, running on AWS cloud resources.
- Collaborate with the frontend team to implement complete software solutions and ensure a seamless user experience, assisting with minimal frontend tasks as needed.
- Optimise backend systems performance and efficient use of resources.
Skills and Expertise:
- At least 5 years of professional experience as a backend developer using a modern MVC framework.
- Proficiency in building web applications leveraging Laravel and related technologies from the Laravel ecosystem (authentication/permissions management, queues, events, cache, file storage).
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming with PHP 8.
- Good Understanding of MySQL Databases including indexes and optimization.
- Comfortable using AWS.
- Experience writing tests in PHP Units or similar.
- Experience with Ubuntu or other Debian distributions.
- Experience with Nginx or Apache.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot and debug code.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to relay technical information to both technical and non-technical peers.
- Excellent collaboration abilities with the ability to manage workload.
- A proven track record of delivering high-quality software.
- Ability to work well autonomously and as part of a team.
- Hands-on experience of agile software development practices and methodologies.
- Have an appetite for taking on challenges and leveraging new technologies.
