About the Role:

In this role you you will be required to schedule and prioritise your own work to achieve agreed targets and maximise productivity.

You may be seconded to the Projects Department when required to provide technical and project support and assistance during design, construction, and commissioning phases of each development.

You will also work closely with the UK Operations, Projects, HSQE and HR departments in order to achieve the aims set out below and to manage the staff reporting to you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The management, supervision and execution of electrical installation, modification, rectification works in accordance with the company specifications.
  • Development and supervision of operations staff with the intention of increasing direct responsibility (where this is cost effective) for all aspects of Electrical, Control, and Dispatch.
  • Ensure that the Department have adequate resources to carry out their tasks and that engineers engaged are competent and adequately trained
  • Supervise all necessary installation and, commissioning tests and ensure that records are kept.
  • Utilisation, compliance and improvement of the company’s operations and maintenance procedures, manuals, record keeping and stock control systems.
  • Day to day operations and maintenance including (but not limited to) fault diagnosis, service, modification, replacement, and rectification.
  • Interrogate and decipher programme logic or signal faults, determine then apply suitable amendments to programme and/or software modification to resolve control and sequence shortfall. • Maintain progress on all electrical works to ensure works are carried out.
  • Delivery of fully commissioned and tested solar, energy storage and gas peaker projects into the Operations phase (in conjunction with the Project Dept)
  • Develop fault finding manuals for electrical equipment.
  • Develop, enhance and deliver electrical/technical related training courses
  • Liaison with other departments on upgrading and improvement specifications
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with current HSQE legislation and the company policies and procedures
  • Ensure that safe working practices and procedures are implemented and maintained
  • Second and deputy for the Electrical Engineering Manager as and when required.
  • Supervise operation of HV switchgear
  • Ensure maintenance of LV/HV electrical equipment
  • Scoping of Electrical Engineering jobs producing recommendations for works to be carried out
  • Preparation of testing and commissioning strategies and setting of standards
  • Prepare develop and deliver Electrical training in conjunction with the Electrical Manager and Training Manager
  • Schedule and coordinate all pre planned maintenance, reactive maintenance, faultfinding and testing in conjunction with the Operations Managers

Skills and Expertise:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Electrical maintenance, Control Systems, Logic and Commissioning
  • Experience with small scale Power Generation, CHP, Solar and Energy Storage Systems
  • Recognised Senior Electrical Engineering qualification
  • Proven Experience with Gas Engines (CAT, Perkins, MAN, MWM, Cummins)
  • Fault location, diagnosis, and rectification of systems, PLC and logic
  • Proven Experience with electric control systems 12v DC – 415v AC 3ø
  • Gassafe Accreditation (or ability to complete within probation)
  • 18th Edition and EIT
  • Budget Management and reporting
  • Supervision and Management
  • Current Legislation
  • Computer literate
  • Hold full UK drivers licence and passport
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Ability to meet agreed deadlines
  • Flexible approach to a varying workload and travel
