About the Role:

The Company is seeking an experienced individual to maintain and repair large reciprocating internal combustion generators. Facilities range from 100kW to 20MWe. The largest generator rating in the fleet is currently 2.5MWe. The premise of the role is to take responsibility for repair, maintenance and ultimately operational availability for generation assets in the fleet.

 

On a daily basis the position involves close, regular contact with the Operations Manager who will direct you. Operations staff may contact you for advice and guidance on training during normal working hours and on occasion outside these hours.

 

You will work closely with Operations staff supporting them during servicing and guiding them to deal with breakdowns and where possible, pass on skills in order that they take on more routine maintenance, releasing your time for technical work.

 

You will also work with other members of the Engineering team; the operational team and the projects team in order to achieve your aims as set out below.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilisation and compliance of the company’s operations and maintenance procedures, manuals, record keeping and stock control systems.
  • Execution of all generation asset maintenance and overhaul and the use of Operations staff to undertake minor/major maintenance of assets as required.
  • Maintenance and repair of mechanical, heat and electrical plant, including pumps and motors.
  • Recommissioning of overhauled assets and associated equipment.
  • Conduct emissions monitoring of generation assets.
  • Training, support and supervision of area staff to undertake maintenance and simple fault finding.
  • Provide emergency call out cover to respond to generation asset failure/outage.
  • Ordering and cost control of spares and stock management.
  • Maintenance and inspection of LV electrical equipment (subject to training and competency).
  • Operation of HV switchgear (subject to training and competency).
  • Representing the company in a good light by maintaining clean, well-run sites, engaging with customers and the general public.
  • Implementation of HSQE systems.
  • Compliance and implementation of company environmental protection procedures with a proactive approach to response, maintaining, monitoring, reporting and auditing, and updating company systems.
  • Responsible for compilation and completion of outstanding works.
  • Contractor supervision.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Extensive experience with leading the overhaul of reciprocating generating asset in a field service environment
  • Knowledge of MWM/CATCG/MTU equipment
  • Familiar with Electrical, Heat and Mechanical maintenance.
  • Fault location, diagnosis and rectification
  • Gassafe accreditation (or ability to complete accreditation within probation)
  • Electrical skill or relevant experience in the field.
  • Familiar with electric control systems 12v DC – 415v AC 30ø
  • Computer literate.
  • Hold full UK drivers licence
  • Ability to use own initiative and find solutions to problem
