About the Role:

This role is for a Project Specification Manager to embed themselves in a small, entrepreneurial business in which you will have to think on your feet. Therefore, someone who enjoys a busy day, is happy to “muck in” with whatever will help keep the business moving forward will do well.

Key Responsibilities:

  • • Manage and grow specification sales projects and customers across all target sectors and segments.
  • • Prioritise major projects, in conjunction with all stakeholders in the customer team, from cradle to grave .
  • • Actively develop technical competence in all products and systems such that you become a consultant.
  • • Train and educate customers on all product ranges via all available mediums to create brand ambassadors.
  • • Respond to customer enquiries and Investigate any and all queries raised, in accordance with policy.
  • • Use consultative selling techniques to understand client and project needs before suggesting a solution.
  • • Develop and grow relationships and trust with customers and project teams of all types that they can reply on for a balanced and innovative solution
  • • Process telephone and emailed queries and enquiries in a timely fashion.
  • • Conduct external sales visits, where required.
  • • Raise quotations on Sage and send to customer within agreed timescales.
  • • Prepare quotes for special and / or bespoke projects with S&MD, as required.
  • • Support with marketing activities and preparation of marketing materials, as required.
  • • Identify projects that can be used as mutually beneficial case studies.

Skills and Expertise:

  • • Minimum 3-5 years in a consultative sales specification role, ideally in the electrical industry.
  • • Developed consultative selling skillset, utilising active listening and questioning to fully understand.
  • • Specification project management experience & understanding of construction project types and how they are run.
  • • Strong Organisational and prioritising skills.
  • • Polite, professional, and persuasive communication skills, able to build relationships easily.
  • • Focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • • Experience with full Microsoft suite is required.
  • • Experience with Sage 200 Evolution is desirable.
